Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm brutal campaign walkthrough

Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm hosts a plethora of new achievements and unlockables. Completing the campaign on Brutal difficulty will award you with achievement points and the Narud portrait. It’s possible to complete a good portion of the achievements in one playthrough, but it will be much easier to get them all on a second playthrough on Hard difficulty. Like Wings of Liberty, there are achievements that must be completed on Hard difficulty or higher, but they’re no longer listed on the score screen at the end of each mission. What takes their place are a new set of achievements that must be completed on Normal or higher. The Hard difficulty achievements can be found in the achievement window in the menus.

[e][h]  Loki

1500 4

Loki is an enemy heroic Battlecruiser, seen in the mission Engine of Destruction. It looks like mercenary Jackson’s Revenge except it is much bigger. Because it is a detector it is more than a match for small squads of Wraiths — however Vikings can outrange it and with reasonable micro management it can be easily shot down.

All In

This mission varies slightly, depending on the choice you made for the previous mission. If you chose to "sabotage tunnels" you'll have to deal with flying Mutalisks in this final "All In" mission, or if you chose to "attack platform" you'll have to deal with myriad Nydus worms. This walkthrough is written assuming you chose to "attack platform," 'cause that's what we did. Still, some of the same strategies apply.

  • Main Objective | Defend the artifact

Mission Walkthrough

Hey you! This is the last mission in the game. If you've got any protoss or zerg research credits left over, put 'em to use and do some research. For the final research bonuses, we strongly recommend the protoss tech reactor and the zerg hive mind emulator. Also be sure to beef up your units in the armory with whatever credits you've got left. For this mission, we're focusing primarily on bunkers, siege tanks and Banshees.

You've got to defend the artifact, neatly located atop a platform at the north end of your base. This mission is all about throwing up a massive defense and hunkering down while the on-screen meter fills up to end the mission. Start by putting your SCVs to work and building additional bunkers near the two main entrances of your base—there's a northeast entrance and a western entrance you'll have to defend. Quickly add a reactor to your barracks to start pumping out Marines to fill the bunkers, and add a tech lab (or tech reactor if you've got the upgrade) to your factory so you can also produce Siege tanks rapidly.

You want to set up myriad Siege tanks just behind your bunkers on the borders of your base. Also send Siege tanks onto the upper platform where the artifact is—from that platform, they can overlook the main paths leading into your base and tag incoming zerg way early. Make sure to leave SCVs near your tanks and bunkers to perform repairs 'cause they'll need them constantly.

Add a tech reactor to your starport as well and pump out Banshees. Keep a pack of Banshees bound to a hotkey so that you can send them around for focused fire when necessary. Like when fighting Nydus worms. Very quickly, you'll get warnings of incoming Nydus worms and they'll pop up all over the map. Nydus worm locations are marked on your map as long as the worms are still alive and you should use your Banshees for making a sweep of the map to clear 'em all out. With most Nydus worm croppings, one worm will appear within your base, usually between the artifact platform and your command center. For this reason, we suggest setting up a bunker in the same area, ready to drill away the Nydus worm before it can unleash any zerg inside your base.

Listen to the warnings about seismic activity. Typically they announce more Nydus worms, but occasionally they'll announce the arrival of Kerrigan. Kerrigan will appear on your map as a gnarly evil icon. Watch her movement and be prepared to intercept her at whichever of your base entrances she tries to invade. Attack her with Banshees before she can get close enough to wipe out your bunkers. Kerrigan's got the power to take out bunkers quickly and they're difficult to replace (more difficult than Banshees). Focus all your mobile firepower on knocking Kerrigan away and she'll soon retreat. Don't worry, she'll attack you again later in the same pattern.

So long as you keep your bunkers and Siege tanks healthy, you should get through this mission relatively easily. When things get hairy, don't forget to utilize the energy nova, which you can trigger any time (provided you have a charge) by clicking the button that's always on-screen. If you're playing the version without Nydus worms but with flying zerg, replace our recommended Siege tanks with anti-air turrets. If you've got the hive mind emulator research upgrade, place the towers near the borders of your base and take control of Mutalisks and Brood lords alike to turn the tides. Either way you go, proper preparation and fast work in the beginning of the mission is the key to success. G'luck, soldier.

2.1. campaign

Of course, it does not appear in Annihilation, and can be encountered only once as an enemy in the mission called Weapon of Destruction during the Wings of Liberty campaign. Destroying Loki is one of the missions, but it's not the main mission, it's just a side mission. In addition, if you don't care about the location, it's in a perfect position to just ignore it and move on, so if you feel like you're not good at it, just give up, or check the location with cheats → use the new reload skill.

In the game, it is located at 3 o'clock and is well stored at first, and then takes off and enters combat mode when air troops approach. [9] By the way, it is invincible when it is stowed and when it is just taking off.

It can be launched by sending ground units, but it is better to catch it with ghost fighters or vikings . However, since it has self-detection, it detects and attacks even if the ghost fighter is hiding, and the ghost is better to escort Odin, so it is convenient to catch it with a Viking. In fact, it's more convenient to carry out the mission itself as a Viking. If necessary, you can support Tychus's Odin. You can also wake up Loki with the ghost given by default, lure him, and catch him as Goliath. If the order is set to attack after collecting all the Xel'Naga artifacts, Jackson's Revenge Corps can be dispatched with a battlecruiser fleet as the flagship and blown away with a volley of Yamatop guns (. ). Honestly, this is convenient.

It uses 'Missile Barrage', a battle cruiser -only upgrade that can only be done in the campaign, and Yamato Cannon, which are basically equipped on all battle cruisers, and Loki's own HP and defense are high, so it's good to go after anti-aircraft troops have accumulated to some extent. . Here, you can destroy it relatively easily by using the 'Angel of Hell', a Viking mercenary. Since Loki won't be activated until airborne forces are nearby, it's worth considering building a few missile turrets near Loki's location to lure him into combat to reduce damage.

In the final mission of the Heart of the Swarm campaign, the Pride of Augustgrad, an elite battlecruiser belonging to the Dominion SS, uses Loki's modeling, and in the first mission of Nova Covert Ops Mission Pack 3 released as DLC, the same modeling is used. A battlecruiser appears as an enemy.

2.2. co-op

When playing on Very Hard in Void Sortie, Loki appears as the escort enemy for the last Shuttle squadron when the Terrans appear as enemies. This side also has a hero correction, so you have to be careful because the player's hero can also use the Yamato cannon without hesitation. However, since it is a hero correction, paradoxically, it does not receive the Yamato Po buff obtained from the patch, so it still has a 3 second delay compared to the normal forward shooting, which fires immediately after 1.5 seconds. [10] In addition, many air units use missile guns, so be careful when using mutalisks or specters.

Loki comes out as a 9th tier in the mutagen degeneration mutation , but Loki itself is not a threat. However, it has a lot of HP at 1500, and the base defense of 4 + the additional defense of the upgrade adds up to 7, and the attack speed is very fast, so it breaks through the probability with each attack and almost definitely transforms to 10 tier, so the same 9 tier hybrid Nemesis / It should take precedence over hybrid pillagers/hybrid destroyers.

3. etc

As an aside , it looks similar to the elite mercenary battlecruiser Jackson's Revenge . However, according to the setting, Jackson's Revenge is an old battle cruiser remodeled by Terran space pirates . uh? In fact, it's just a rehash of Jackson's Vengeance modeling. It was as if the voice of the archon was rehashed because it was not possible to record the voice of the hybrid separately . In addition, considering the similarity of design with the later Gorgon-class battle cruiser and the setting of a pilot production battle cruiser, Loki is estimated to be a Gorgon-class prototype.

Quite interestingly, the name of this battlecruiser, 'Loki', is derived from the name of a god in Norse mythology , and the new weapon of the Dominion, ' Odin ', is also derived from that myth . Moreover, the name of the planet on which the Dominion's factory was located was Valhalla . And the name of Odin's son is Thor , and the name of Odin's mass-produced Thor is also the name of a god from Norse mythology. So the name of the achievement to catch Loki is Odin's friend Loki.
